Web Desk: Federal Information Minister has strongly condemned an alleged incident in which the administration of a seminary linked to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F leader Fazlur Rehman allegedly set dogs on a journalist while he was performing his professional duties.
The minister expressed his views during a meeting with a reporter from Aazad Digital and said violence, harassment or mistreatment of journalists could not be tolerated.
The information minister said no one had the right to use violence or intimidation against a journalist carrying out professional responsibilities.
He stressed that journalists perform an important public role and that covering events and activities is part of their professional duties.
“Any form of violence or mistreatment against a journalist is condemnable,” the minister said, adding that such conduct had no place in a civilised society.
The minister also said disagreements with journalists should be handled through dialogue and respectful conduct rather than intimidation or obstruction.
