The Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police briefed Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on the situation in the province, saying that police remain on alert amid the uncertain situation.
Sources said police personnel from various districts have been called to the police lines, while a strategy has been prepared to deal with any emergency situation.
KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met in Peshawar, where they discussed the political and security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a statement, both agreed on playing their constitutional role to protect the province from terrorism.
Earlier, Mohsin Naqvi had said that KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi alone was responsible for the failure of talks between the government and the opposition, adding that the negotiations had ended.
Naqvi said that if, God forbid, even one life was lost, Sohail Afridi would be responsible. He said the agreement was changed four times and was ready, with 99% of the points agreed upon. However, after the agreement was presented to the president and Naqvi returned, Afridi had changes made to it.
Naqvi said that if Afridi had to make the decisions, he should have come and sat in the negotiations.
