PTI has exposed itself as facilitator of terrorists: Faisal Kundi

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has strongly criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the provincial government, calling them facilitators of terrorism.

Responding to a statement by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Faisal Karim Kundi said that in a province where innocent people are being killed, should the protection of the people and maintenance of law and order not be the provincial government’s priority?

He said PTI’s repeated compromises and actions raise serious questions about whether it is creating an environment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where terrorists can operate freely.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor further said that instead of taking ownership of the fight against terrorism and protecting its people, the provincial government had backed away from its security commitments, calling it an extremely shameful and blatant display of cowardice.

Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had released details of negotiations with PTI, revealing that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had backed out of a written agreement on the National Action Plan and security matters.

Mohsin Naqvi said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had backed out at the last moment from a 72-hour written agreement covering security matters, counterterrorism and Afghan policy. In details shared on social media platform X, Naqvi made it clear that the province is currently in a state of war and that politics over security matters would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has witnessed an increase in incidents of unrest and terrorism, and in such circumstances, the provincial government’s primary responsibility should be to protect its citizens. However, backing away from security commitments and failing to formulate a final operational strategy with the federal government gives the impression that the party’s political interests are being prioritised over national security.

The PTI-led provincial government has been in power in KP for some time, but instead of resolving provincial issues, particularly law and order, the economic crisis and problems faced by the public, its energies are being spent on confrontation with the federal government and political conflict.
