Karachi's Rano relocated to Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Following the directives of the Sindh High Court (SHC), the female bear Rano from Karachi Zoo has been transferred to Islamabad, where wildlife officials welcomed her with flowers upon arrival.

According to details, Rano was airlifted from Karachi’s Faisal Base to Islamabad in a specially designed cage aboard a C-130 aircraft. Before the transfer, animal experts conducted a detailed examination of Rano’s physical, mental, and behavioral condition and declared her completely fit for relocation.

Upon arrival in Islamabad, the wildlife staff received Rano with floral greetings. The event was attended by Chief Conservator Javed Mehr, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s Dr. Amir, civil society member Yusra Sami Askari, and others.

The entire transfer process was jointly supervised by the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board and Karachi Zoo teams. Authorities have confirmed that special arrangements for Rano’s accommodation have been completed at the Margalla Wildlife Rescue Center.

Officials added that Rano will now be kept in a natural environment to ensure her proper care and rehabilitation.
