Iqra Kanwal, Nadeem Naniwala face cases over allegedly promoting fraud apps

Web desk: The National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered new cases against three well-known social media influencers for allegedly promoting unlicensed online trading applications.

Officials said the accused, Iqra Kanwal, Nadeem Mubarak alias Naniwala, and Muhammad Hasnain Shah, used their platforms to persuade followers to invest in mobile apps that promised high profits but were not legally registered.

Investigators claim the promotions encouraged thousands of people to put money into fraudulent schemes.

According to sources, three separate cases have been lodged against Nadeem Naniwala and Hasnain Shah, while one case was filed against Iqra Kanwal.

The influencers had been summoned several times to record their statements, but failed to provide satisfactory responses.
Special teams have now been formed to arrest the suspects.

Authorities say that the influencers knowingly attracted Pakistanis into investing in fake profit-seeking apps, causing significant financial risk to the public.

Prior to this, YouTuber Saad ur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai had also been arrested in illegal gambling app promotion case.

This action follows a similar move a day earlier, when the NCCIA registered cases against Rajab Butt, Anas Ali, and Hurairah for promoting gambling through betting applications.

Officials said the cases were filed in Lahore under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), fraud, and other relevant sections.
