Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reacted to his cousin Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Jr’s entry in Pakistani politics.

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Jr, grandson of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, earlier announced that he and his sister Fatima Bhutto, will launch a new political party, distancing themselves from the current leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Speaking at a press conference at his residence in Karachi’s Clifton area, Bhutto Jr said that my sister Fatima Bhutto is coming, and together we will announce the party. Our youth wing will be with us.”

Addressing a news conference, he said that “I think that they are active in politics for a while now. If they want to be more active now we welcome them as PPP has always appreciated new parties in politics.”

“Neither me (Bilawal), nor any of my sisters have made negative remarks about them”, he added

On floods, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari reiterated his party’s demand of providing relief, aid to deluge victims via the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

“The flood victims should be helped through the BISP,” Bilawal said while speaking to the media.

The federation plays a leading role in the event of a natural disaster; however, the responsibility of providing assistance is not limited to one government, he added.

“The federal government should talk to IMF under agricultural emergency,” the PPP chief remarked.

Urging the Centre to review its policy on the BISP, Bilawal said that the PML-N was taking due ownership of the BISP before the general elections, however, they should be asked if they have taken a U-turn on the said issue.

The politician further said that the PML-N has not yet provided them with any amendment draft concerning the BISP.
