At least 16 militants were killed during clashes between the Noor Wali and Gul Bahadur groups on the night of August 27–28 in Afghanistan’s eastern provinces of Khost and Nangarhar.
According to sources, both sides suffered heavy losses in the infighting. So far, 10 militants were confirmed killed in Nangarhar, including a key commander identified as Aki, said to be a second-tier leader responsible for procuring weapons and explosives. Other militants killed in the province include Bahar Ghani Khel, Kashif, Abu Zar, and Obaida Khurrasani.
In Khost, six terrorists were killed, among them commander Akhtar Gul, also known as Hussaini, who was described as a third-tier commander. Others killed were identified as Kharji Jalal, M Alam, and Ziarat Gul.
Initial reports suggest around 32 militants from both factions were injured during the clashes. Additional details on casualties are being verified.
