Whenever India faces protests by students, farmers, or civil society over their legitimate demands, its immediate response is to blame external forces. The allegations against Pakistani social media during the ongoing student protests are, in fact, an attempt to divert attention from its own internal problems and avoid accountability—a tactic India has consistently employed over the years.
It is a proven fact that India has long been obsessed with branding every opinion that challenges the state’s narrative as “Pakistani disinformation.” Manufacturing cross-border conspiracy theories neither hides domestic failures nor satisfies protesting students.
Besides, India’s fear of Pakistani media and digital accounts stems from a sense of insecurity in the face of facts that expose the state’s failures. When state-backed media fails to convince its own people, pointing fingers across the border becomes the easiest excuse.
Moreover, in the Marka-e-Haq, India not only suffered setbacks on the military front but also faced embarrassment in the information domain, where false narratives and fabricated stories caused its “Godi media” and Indian social media to lose credibility. This is why its allegations and smear campaigns are steadily losing their impact.
Furthermore, the failure of the Indian media can be gauged from the fact that it is airing pre-recorded statements by uniformed personnel in an attempt to pacify protesting students through misinformation. In its desperation, India appears to have forgotten that credible allegations require transparent technical evidence, such as metadata, rather than propaganda videos by government officials.
Impartial and neutral observers argue that instead of providing verified digital forensic evidence or IP tracing, the reliance on scripted or allegedly coerced statements from security officials indicates the absence of credible evidence behind these accusations.
This obsession with “Pakistani disinformation” only exposes how weak and hollow India’s official narrative has become in the information war, losing credibility at international level.
