Sri Lanka beat Hong Kong by 4 wickets
Sri Lanka secured a tense four-wicket win over Hong Kong in a Group B match of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Chasing a target of 150, Sri Lanka reached their goal with seven balls to spare, despite a late collapse in their batting lineup.
Batting first, Hong Kong posted a competitive 149 for 4, thanks to a determined half-century from Nizakat Khan, who scored 52 not out off 38 balls.
He built a strong partnership with Anshuman Rath, who contributed 48 runs from 46 deliveries.
For Sri Lanka, Dushmantha Chameera was the standout bowler, finishing with figures of 2 for 29 in his four overs.
In the chase, Pathum Nissanka anchored the innings with an impressive 68 off 44 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes.
However, Hong Kong’s spinners fought back, taking three quick wickets after Nissanka’s dismissal and putting Sri Lanka under pressure.
The game was eventually sealed by Wanindu Hasaranga, who remained unbeaten on 20 off just nine balls, hitting two crucial boundaries in the final overs to guide Sri Lanka home.
With this win, Sri Lanka remains undefeated in the tournament, while Hong Kong was knocked out after suffering its third consecutive defeat.
