Web Desk: Federal Government has rolled out a countrywide skills development initiative AI Seekho 2026 focused on artificial intelligence, aiming to prepare its workforce for emerging digital opportunities while strengthening links with startup and innovation ecosystems.
The program, titled AI Seekho 2026, reflects the government’s push to place artificial intelligence at the center of its economic strategy. Officials say the initiative aligns with the country’s newly formulated National AI Policy, which outlines long-term plans for integrating AI across industries.
Information Technology Minister Shaza Fatima said the government intends to train up to one million young people in AI-related skills, emphasizing accessibility for individuals without technical backgrounds. She added that the initiative seeks to broaden participation in the digital economy rather than limit it to specialized professionals.
Through AI Seekho 2026, participants will gain access to support systems including National Incubation Centers, the Pakistan Startup Fund and international technology platforms. Officials say these partnerships are designed to connect trainees with job markets, entrepreneurial pathways and global networks.
In addition, the Ministry of IT is collaborating with Google to deliver targeted training for developers. Under this component, authorities aim to equip more than 100,000 developers with advanced AI capabilities.
Alongside skills training, the government is expanding access to digital tools through its Chromebook initiative, which aims to provide affordable devices to students and trainees across the country. Officials say the effort will help bridge the digital divide, enabling wider participation in online learning programs such as AI Seekho.
The availability of low-cost laptops is expected to support remote education, particularly in underserved areas where access to technology has remained limited.
Officials say the combined approach of training, infrastructure support and industry linkages signals a more coordinated push toward digital transformation. By integrating AI education with access to devices and startup ecosystems, the government aims to create sustainable employment pathways and foster innovation.
Authorities added that the initiative underscores Pakistan’s broader strategy to build a competitive digital workforce capable of contributing to both domestic growth and the global technology landscape.
