Wana: Security forces successfully foiled a planned attack by militants targeting Cadet College Wana, ISPR said. The attempted assault, reminiscent of the 2014 Army Public School tragedy, was prevented before the attackers could breach the campus.

Suicide Blast Prevented at College Gate

According to sources, militants attempted a suicide explosion at the college’s main entrance. Security personnel responded immediately, stopping the attackers from entering the premises. Initial reports indicate that four to five militants were killed during the operation, which is still ongoing.

College Provides Education to Local Tribes

Cadet College Wana, established at the request of local tribes, provides high-quality education to students from the Mehsud and Wazir communities. Alumni of the institution hold prominent positions across the country, reflecting the college’s role in shaping the region’s youth.

Militants Attempt Repetition of Past Atrocities

Officials noted that the militants intended to replicate the violence seen in the 2014 Army Public School attack. “These elements are as ruthless today as they were in 2014,” a source said. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a clearance operation to ensure no further threats remain.

Authorities Reject Any Negotiation

Local authorities emphasized that no negotiation with such militants is possible. “Those who threaten the lives and security of Pakistani citizens have only one outcome — death,” a senior official said. Security forces are committed to eliminating threats posed by these anti-human elements.

Ongoing Operations Continue

The operation in Wana remains active; meanwhile, forces are systematically clearing the area to prevent further attacks and, consequently, to secure the college and surrounding communities. Furthermore, authorities urged locals to stay vigilant and cooperate with security personnel.
