Web Desk: Reports circulating on social media that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s newly formed advisory council has decided to abolish the Health Card Programme and other public welfare initiatives are fabricated, according to a government fact-check.
The fact-check also rejected a purported statement attributed to Health Adviser Lt. Gen. Nigar Johar that an investigation into the Health Card Programme would be among the government’s first priorities.
The fact-check found no credible or verified information supporting claims that the advisory council had approved the repeal of the Health Card Programme or other welfare schemes.
It also found no verified basis for the statement allegedly made by Johar regarding an investigation into the programme.
The reports have been circulated by accounts described as linked to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), with the fact-check warning that such unverified claims could create confusion over government policies and public welfare programmes.
Authorities have advised the public to verify information through credible and official channels before accepting or sharing reports concerning the Health Card Programme or other government initiatives.
It is specifically cautioned against attributing statements to public officials without confirmation from verified sources.
The reports alleging the repeal of the Health Card Programme and other welfare initiatives, along with the statement attributed to Johar, remain unverified and fabricated.
It urged citizens to avoid circulating the claims unless they are confirmed through official government announcements or other credible sources.
