Islamabad (PMD) — An earthquake measuring magnitude 5.6 was recorded on 25 February 2026 at 16:12 PST, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The seismic activity occurred at a depth of 114 kilometers, with its epicenter located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan at latitude 36.99°N and longitude 71.41°E.
Tremors from the earthquake were felt in several parts of Pakistan including Islamabad, Swat, Peshawar, and Chitral, causing panic among residents who rushed out of homes and offices.
So far, there have been no immediate reports of major damage or casualties. Authorities and relevant departments are closely monitoring the situation.
