Web Desk: Terrorists of the Fitna al Hindustan group fired mortar shells and opened indiscriminate gunfire at a residential house in the Balida Meenaz area, martyring six people, including women and children, and injuring three others, officials said.
Authorities said the attack took place during the holy month of Ramadan and targeted the home of a local resident identified as Abdul Hameed.
According to local officials, the attackers launched mortar rounds and fired automatic weapons at the house, causing extensive damage. The assault killed six members of the Baloch community, including two women and three children.
Officials identified the deceased as Muslim, son of Char Shamba; Maulana Yousaf, son of Muhammad Sharif; Gul Naz, daughter of Abdul Ghaffar; one-year-old Changez, son of Abdul Ghaffar; four-year-old Fazeela, wife of Abdul Ghaffar; and six-year-old Zahra, daughter of Abdul Ghaffar.
Three children sustained injuries in the attack and were shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Meanwhile, the house caught fire during the assault, and its contents were reduced to ashes. Several vehicles parked on the premises also suffered severe damage.
Security forces cordoned off the area shortly after the incident and launched a search operation to track down the attackers. Officials said the operation would continue until those responsible are apprehended.
Authorities have not yet provided further details about the identity of the assailants. However, they described the attack as an act of terrorism and said investigations are underway.
The incident underscores the persistent security challenges in parts of Balochistan, where militant violence has targeted both security personnel and civilians in recent years.
