Gyeongju, South Korea: United States (US) President Donald Trump once again praised Field Marshal Asim Munir saying that he is a great fighter.
US President Trump also praised the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif while once again acknowledging that Pakistan downed Indian Rafael Jets.
Addressing the APEC CEO Summit in the South Korean city of Gyeongju, Trump said, “the prime minister of Pakistan (Shehbaz Sharif) is a great guy and the field marshal. They have a field marshal. You know why he’s a field mar(shal)? He’s a great fighter. He really is. He’s a great guy too.”
US President Trump has been seen acknowledging Pakistani leadership on different occasions. However, analysts believe, his latest statement at APEC CEO Summit is more significant as it came at a time when, backed by India, the Afghan Taliban undermined peace efforts in Istanbul by refusing to accept Pakistan’s legitimate demands.
Regarding Pakistan’s Marka-e-Haq Operation and damage to India, US President Trump in his address said that seven jets were downed by Pakistan Air Force (PAF). “I’m reading that seven planes were shot down.”
Earlier in September, during an address to American military generals in Virginia, President Trump had lauded Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, during an address to American military generals in Virginia on Tuesday.
Trump told the gathering that just a few days earlier, he had met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. He described Munir as a key and influential figure in Pakistan’s leadership.
During his speech, Trump recalled a remark made by Field Marshal Munir, who had reportedly credited him with saving millions of lives by preventing wars. “He said I stopped conflict and saved countless lives. If war had erupted, things could have turned disastrous,” Trump recounted, adding that he felt honoured by Munir’s words.
