Islamabad: Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said the May 9 incidents were a joint plan of PTI’s founder and former DG ISI Faiz Hameed. He claimed the seeds of this conspiracy were sown by Faiz Hameed. He warned that if the plan had succeeded, the country’s very existence could have been at risk.

Speaking at a press conference in Sialkot on Saturday, Khawaja Asif said some conspiratorial elements are still trying to bring the PTI founder back to power. He said these efforts would fail. He added that figures like the PTI founder must face accountability. Otherwise, such behavior would harm the country.

The defence minister alleged that the entire PTI leadership paid extortion money to the banned TTP. He claimed PTI was responsible for allowing the Taliban to re-enter Pakistan. He said the same elements are now talking about negotiations with the TTP, which he called against national interests.

The Defence Minister said Allah saved Pakistan from these elements and granted the country victory. Khawaja Asif added that the Faiz Hameed project is gradually being exposed. He claimed former army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa was also aware of the situation.

Khawaja Asif said Pakistan stands proudly in the world today. He credited this to the armed forces and the successful operation “Marka-e-Haq.” Khawaja Asif warned that if the alliance between the PTI founder and Faiz Hameed had continued, the country could have collapsed from within.

He also alleged that India is behind the current situation on the western border. The Defence Minister said those who endanger the country for personal interests will not be spared. He added that accountability will not be limited to Faiz Hameed. All anti-Pakistan elements will be brought to justice.
