Islamabad: Saudi Arabia’s Chief of General Staff, General Fayyadh Bin Hameed Al Rowaili, met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, at General Headquarters on Monday to discuss expanding military cooperation between the two long-standing partners.

Focus on Defence, Security Ties

During the meeting, both commanders reviewed areas of mutual interest and highlighted the need to strengthen defence collaboration. They also underscored the importance of enhancing security cooperation and counter-terrorism efforts, which remain central to Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations.

General Al Rowaili expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s support to Saudi Armed Forces across various domains. He reaffirmed Riyadh’s commitment to deepening strategic links with Islamabad.

Ceremonial Welcome at GHQ

Earlier in the day, the Saudi military chief laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada in honor of Pakistan’s fallen soldiers. He was later presented with a guard of honour by a Pakistan Army contingent upon his arrival at GHQ.

Expanding a Longstanding Partnership

The visit reflects ongoing efforts by both nations to broaden defence engagement as regional security dynamics evolve. Officials said discussions are expected to pave the way for more structured cooperation in training, joint exercises and counter-terrorism initiatives.
