Four suspects detained in a gang-rape case were killed in firing by their own accomplices during an attack on a police party in the jurisdiction of Rahman Baba Police Station in Peshawar.

According to police, the suspects were being taken to identify the crime scene when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on the police party. The four detained suspects were hit by bullets and killed, while the police personnel remained safe.

The deceased suspects were identified as Aamir, son of Iftikhar; Jalal alias Raja, son of Meraj; Chacha, son of Qudus; and Amdas.

CCPO Peshawar said the suspects were accused of allegedly breaking into a house in Garhi Mosam Khan on Sunday night by scaling its wall and allegedly sexually assaulting women at gunpoint.

According to police, a case was registered under various sections on September 6, 2026, including Sections 395, 377-B, 449, 170 and 375-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with a relevant section of the Child Protection Act.

Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
