ISLAMABAD: 2026 will be declared as the “Year of Quaid-i-Azam” by Pakistan to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of the nation’s founder, Mohammad Ali Jinnah. This was announced by a federal minster on Monday, dignified and befitting commemorations will be done at the national level.
Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives was chairing a meeting of the National Committee and made the announcement. He also pondered about what events could be done to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of philosopher-poet Allama Iqbal
The federal minster while addressing the meeting decided that a sub-committee was being constituted. The sub-committie will finalize the events of the program and it will submit the recommendations within five days.
To ensure the commemorative activities were impactful, meaningful and memorable he emphasized the need for coordinated strategy.
He further added that the vision Quaid-i-Azam provided continues to provide comprehensive guidance for the nation. The principles of unity, faith and discipline should be emphasized throughout the celebrations.
It was also announced by the minister that a high-quality drama series will be produced on the life of Quaid-i-Azam. The series will focus on his leadership, political struggle during the independence movement. The series will also highlight his life before he came into politics.
