UAE beat Oman by 42 runs
UAE posted a strong total of 172-5 in their 20 overs against Oman at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Monday, with captain Muhammad Waseem and opener Alishan Sharafu both scoring fluent half-centuries.
The pair gave their side a flying start, putting up a 50-run stand as they punished the Omani bowlers with a mix of boundaries and quick singles.
By the halfway stage, the UAE had already reached 81 without loss, looking firmly in control.
Sharafu went on to bring up his 10th T20I fifty but was bowled straight after by Jiten Ramanandi for 51 from 38 deliveries, ending the opening stand at 88-1 in the 11th over.
Soon after, Asif Khan was trapped by Samay Shrivastava for just two, giving Oman their second breakthrough in the 13th over.
Despite the wickets, the early momentum set by Waseem and Sharafu helped UAE finish with a commanding score to defend.
