In Bannu’s Ahmedzai police station jurisdiction, in the Barghantu area, two successive blasts occurred. According to the DPO, 7 people were martyred and 3 others were injured in the explosions.
According to DPO Yasir Afridi, the first explosion occurred near a passenger-filled Datsun vehicle, while the second blast took place at the scene during rescue operations. Seven people died on the spot, while 3 were injured.
According to local sources, the people in the Datsun belonged to the Hathi Khel tribe and were coming towards Bannu city.
The bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital for medical treatment and legal formalities.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, while further details are being gathered.
The attack comes months after a suicide bombing in Bannu in April that martyred at least five people, including three women and a child, and injured four others. On April 3, a suicide bomber attempted to target civilians gathered outside a police station in the district.
