Turkey has congratulated Pakistan on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and extended congratulations over the Islamabad MoU between the US and Iran, appreciating the mediation role of the United States, Iran, and Pakistan.
During the call, Hakan Fidan and Ishaq Dar agreed that the progress made through the understanding is significant for peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
It is worth noting that US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed the agreement, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also signing in his capacity as mediator. Pakistan has formally endorsed the agreement as a facilitator.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the agreement will serve as a foundation for peace and stability in the region. He also said that the tireless efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir played a key role in enabling progress and advancing regional peace and stability.
The Prime Minister also congratulated President Donald Trump, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mujtaba Khamenei, and the Iranian President on the agreement.
Earlier diplomatic sources revealed that the Islamabad MoU has already come into effect, and implementation has begun. After this high-level political breakthrough, technical negotiations will now be conducted separately, covering various components of the agreement.
Diplomatic officials also said the upcoming technical talks will focus on sanctions relief, maritime security, nuclear issues, verification mechanisms, implementation timelines, and regional assurances.
