Journalist Rabiya Ahsan shot dead, Husband under investigation

Web desk: A 41-year-old journalist associated with Pakistan’s 92 News television channel, Rabiya Ahsan, was found dead in her room with a gunshot wound to the head, according to preliminary information about the incident.

Authorities have taken her husband, Ahsan Tahir Khan, into custody for questioning and recovered a firearm as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.

During initial questioning, Ahsan reportedly told investigators that the weapon discharged accidentally while he was handling it.

However, authorities have yet to establish whether the shooting was accidental or involved criminal wrongdoing.

Investigators are examining the circumstances of the incident, including the husband’s account, as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Meanwhile, teams from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) are collecting evidence from the scene to help determine how the shooting occurred.

The firearm has also been taken into police custody as potential evidence.

Forensic findings are expected to play an important role in assessing the circumstances of the journalist’s death and verifying statements obtained during the investigation.

Authorities are continuing their investigation, while further legal proceedings will depend on the evidence collected and the findings of the inquiry.

The cause and manner of the shooting have not yet been conclusively established, and no determination of criminal responsibility has been announced.
