Salman Akram Raja announces resignation as PTI General Secretary

Web desk: Salman Akram Raja has announced resignation as PTI General Secretary.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja has decided to step down from the post of Secretary General of PTI.

In his statement, Salman Akram Raja said that tomorrow, I will request the founder of PTI to step down from the post, and I will continue to provide legal services to the party without compensation.

The PTI leader said that my small family stands with me, we have endured all kinds of subtle attacks from within and outside the party, and there is no regret.

Salman Akram Raja said that I have happily accepted economic uncertainty by putting my strong advocacy behind me, and my unpaid legal services will continue.

He further added that his life is an open book; none of his actions contradict any principle. ‘Today, an incident occurred that now requires a blunt decision from him.

The senior lawyer became PTI’s secretary general in September last year after Omar Ayub resigned in June.

Raja announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he is leaving the party post but will still provide free legal services to PTI.

“During the period of PTI’s ordeal, I stepped into the political arena along with legal assistance under the guidance of (Imran Khan). My objective was to contribute to the struggle for the supremacy of the Constitution, law, and democracy,” he stated.

Party sources said, according to media reports, that he resigned after disagreements with Aleema Khan over joining the upcoming by-elections.

Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, opposed the move, saying it went against Khan’s clear instructions.
