Web desk: A violent clash erupted outside Adiala Jail on Monday when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers attacked journalist Tayyab Baloch during a media talk by the party founder’s sister, Aleema Khan.

According to reports, PTI workers engaged in a scuffle with media representatives, resorting to verbal abuse and manhandling.

Witnesses at the scene said the crowd could be heard hurling abusive and offensive language, creating a hostile and intimidating environment for the press.

Law enforcement sources confirmed that the affected journalist have submitted an application at the Adiala police post, and reinforcements have been called in to apprehend those involved in the attack.

A strong backlash has erupted after PTI workers attacked journalist Tayyab Baloch outside Adiala Jail.

Political leaders, journalist bodies, and civil society have condemned the incident, calling it an attack on press freedom and demanding strict action against those involved.

Previously, two girls threw an egg at Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan, during her media talk on Friday.

The incident sparked chaos, leading to a brief stampede between PTI supporters and security personnel present at the spot. Police quickly intervened and managed to bring the situation under control.

Shortly after the episode, videos of the egg attack began circulating widely on social media.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari condemned the incident, terming it “regrettable and unfortunate.” Addressing a press conference in Lahore, she said the Punjab Chief Minister had also taken notice of the matter, emphasising that such actions had no place in politics.

“This is a regrettable act and I have already condemned it in a tweet,” Bukhari said. “The question is, where did such practices begin? Once, shoes were hurled at others, and they used to celebrate. Retribution is a frightening thing.”
