Islamabad : Oil and gas production in the country has recorded an increase on a weekly basis.

According to private TV channel , a spokesperson of OGDCL said that during the first three months of the current year, an increase of 3,010 barrels per day of oil and 32 MMSCFD of gas was recorded.

From newly discovered wells, production reached 1,090 barrels per day of oil and 2.5 MMSCFD of gas.

The spokesperson added that through the use of modern technology, an additional 670 barrels per day of oil and 1.25 MMSCFD of gas were achieved. OGDCL’s total production capacity has now reached 37,000 barrels per day.

According to the statement, the target is to increase oil production to 40,000 barrels per day by June 2026, while efforts are ongoing to enhance output from old fields using advanced technology.

The continued rise in oil and gas production reflects growing stability and improvement in Pakistan’s energy sector, reducing reliance on imported fuel and supporting the national economy.

Experts in the field believe that with ongoing investment, exploration of new reserves, and the use of advanced extraction technologies, the country is moving towards greater energy self-sufficiency and long-term sustainability.
