The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister, federal ministers, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, senior military officers, and grieving family members, before his burial in his hometown.
A nation’s tribute to a courageous soldier
Leaders paid heartfelt tributes to Major Adnan’s bravery and service.
The Prime Minister described him as a valiant son of the nation who led by example. The military emphasised that his sacrifice strengthens Pakistan’s resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms.

The Bannu operation: a heroic stand
During a stopover in Bannu while returning home, Major Adnan volunteered for a critical mission, as recounted by his teammates.
In the operation, he neutralized two of five attackers before a bullet struck his right knee. Taking cover behind a damaged wall, he continued directing his team’s fire.
A comrade, believed to be Awais, rushed to shield him during a close-range assault. Together, they protected each other as their team eliminated the assailant.
Major Adnan later underwent extensive surgery, including the amputation of his left leg and treatment for severe injuries to his right.
Despite immense pain, he remained steadfast in spirit until he embraced martyrdom.
A lasting legacy of duty and faith
Major Adnan’s story embodies the finest traditions of the Special Services Group and Pakistan’s armed forces: duty above all, soldiers before self, and unwavering faith in Allah and love for the homeland.
Military officers noted that his example will inspire young soldiers in training and on future missions.
Authorities pledged full support to his family, while citizens were urged to honour his sacrifice by uniting against violence and supporting martyrs’ families.
The name of Major Adnan Aslam Shaheed will live on in the nation’s prayers and its roll of honour for generations to come.
