Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeem on Tuesday has announced that they will postpone their long march to Islamabad till first week of October adding that sitins will continue till their demands are met.
Addressing the media after recieving a phone call from Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to postpone the long march till he returns to the country, the JI Chief said that we will posptpone the march till the meeting with the PM.
The prime minister, who is currently in New York for the 81st United Nations General Assembly session, told the JI chief that the government had already announced a relief package for the public and offered to meet him after returning to Pakistan.
During the telephone conversation, Prime Minister Sharif said that after meeting Hafiz Naeem, he would announce an improved relief package for the public.
He said that we are willing to give the government the chance to meet our demand and provide relief to the masses adding that, however, if the government backs out from its commitment than we will continue with the long march.
