Members of the banned Awami Action Committee opened fire on Rangers and police personnel in Rawalakot, injuring two security officials.
According to reports, protesters fired at Rangers and police personnel, following which the situation in the area became tense. The injured officials were immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
Additional personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order, while further investigations into the incident are underway.
Authorities stated that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands and that action would be taken against those responsible for disturbing peace and public order according to the law.
