Israeli newspaper ‘Jerusalem Post’ writes in favour of Imran Khan

Imran Khan Adiala jail meeting

The moment when Pakistan is busy in mediating US-Iran talks to save the entire world from third world war, Israeli mainstream newspaper is propagating misleading and biased news against Pakistani judicial and political institution.

According to details Israeli newspaper ‘Jerusalem Post’ has raised its voice in favour of Imran Khan claiming that Pakistan keeps Imran Khan under illegal confinement which is deepening political divisions in the country and damaging the country’s democratic fabric.

Claims that Pakistan’s democracy is under threat due to the detention of Imran Khan gain no momentum as the situation reflects institutional accountability rather than political victimization.

Imran Khan is facing 17 years imprisonment under Section 409 for criminal breach of trust, along with an additional seven years under Section 5/2/47 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, leaving no room for any political victimization.

The proceedings against the former prime minister are rooted in established legal frameworks, with cases being heard in courts and handled by relevant authorities. So, portraying the process as a “defining crisis” undermines the independence of judicial institutions and risks spreading unnecessary political alarm

Lawyers acquainted with the court proceedings point out that claims of “contested circumstances” are often politically driven narratives aimed at mobilizing public sentiment. They say such framing overlooks the importance of evidence, due process, and judicial oversight already in place.

Neutral and impartial observers claim that Pakistan’s democratic strength lies solely in its ability to hold all and sundry accountable. Rather than signaling institutional victimization, they argue, the current situation demonstrates that the rule of law remains active—an essential pillar for long-term stability and credibility.
