Driven by the Prime Minister’s and the State Bank of Pakistan’s vision of a cashless economy. The Capital Development Authority (CDA), in partnership with Zindigi powered by JS Bank, has launched Pakistan’s first-ever Cashless Bazaar. The initiative was inaugurated at the H-9 Sunday Market in Islamabad.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Muhammad Ali Randhawa, CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad; Mr. Noman Azhar, Chief Officer Zindigi; Dr. Anam Fatima, Chief Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad; Mr. Tahir Naeem, Member Finance CDA; Mr. Adnan Imran, Chief Manager SBP Islamabad; and Mr. Mohsin Khan, Head of Merchants & Retail Sales, alongside other officials.
This milestone marks a step toward digital transformation. Customers and merchants can now make and receive instant payments through Zindigi P2M merchants using Raast QR codes. The system allows payments from any banking app. It promotes financial inclusion and sets a model for other cities to follow.
H-9 Sunday Market is one of the largest commercial markets in Islamabad. It is also one of the oldest markets in the area. Situated near Peshawar Mor. It is frequented by thousands of customers on a weekly basis. The market is one of the largest due to its variety and is economical. Shoppers can find food, clothes, household items and even electronics.
Speaking at the event, Ali Randhawa said, “The Prime Minister’s vision of a cashless Pakistan is a decisive step towards sustainable economic growth. Islamabad is leading this transformation with Raast QR codes and citywide digital payment solutions, setting a benchmark as a fully digital, financially inclusive, and future-ready capital.”
Noman Azhar added, “Zindigi is at the forefront of public–private partnerships. Together, we can build an ecosystem that transforms payments and reshapes how citizens interact with financial services, offering seamless, secure, and truly cashless transactions.”
The event also included distinguished guests such as Mr. Sahibzada Yousaf, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Islamabad, Ms. Maheen, Assistant Commissioner, and representatives from the State Bank of Pakistan. Teams from Zindigi, CDA, and MCI were also present.
