Web Desk: Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has permanently suspended an account identified as “Miry ar Baloch,” which Pakistani authorities said was being used to circulate propaganda against the state and its institutions.
The action follows the suspension of two other accounts that officials have previously linked to the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), an armed group operating in Pakistan’s southwestern province.
According to officials, the latest account was involved in disseminating content that they described as misleading and aimed at discrediting Pakistani state institutions and security forces.
Authorities said the account’s removal was part of efforts to limit online material that they consider to be connected with extremist activities and hostile propaganda.
The development comes after X also removed accounts operating under the names “Balochistan Fact” and “Bahoot Baloch.” Officials said those accounts had repeatedly published material targeting Pakistan’s state institutions and security forces.
The suspensions highlight growing scrutiny of social media accounts accused by Pakistani authorities of using online platforms to spread disinformation or promote violent groups.
Officials have also alleged that some BLA-linked online activity receives support from India. Such allegations have been made by Pakistani authorities, while India has rejected accusations of supporting militant activity in Pakistan.
Security officials have welcomed the removal of accounts they say threaten public security or seek to undermine confidence in state institutions.
Meanwhile, authorities continue to monitor social media platforms as part of wider efforts to counter what they describe as extremist messaging, disinformation and propaganda targeting Pakistan.
