Web Desk: The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched a new initiative that allows citizens to obtain a driving license within just one hour, aiming to modernise public services and simplify the licensing process, officials said.
The move marks a major step in digitizing citizen services and reducing bureaucratic delays, according to local media reports.
Under the new system, learner driving licenses for LTV and HTV transport vehicles have been fully transitioned to a digital platform. Citizens no longer need to visit offices repeatedly or wait in long queues.
Applicants can now submit their applications from home through the “Dastak” mobile app. The process begins with downloading the app, entering personal information, completing all required steps, and paying the applicable fees online.
Once the digital verification of information and payment is completed, the learner license is issued in a short time, providing fast, transparent, and convenient service.
The initiative was developed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board in coordination with the Transport Directorate and the Department of Transport and Mass Transit. Officials said the system will reduce corruption, increase transparency, and deliver timely, high-quality services to citizens.
Authorities added that the government plans to expand this model to other public services in the future, promoting e-governance across the province.
The primary objective of the program is to spare citizens from long lines, unnecessary delays and complex procedures, enabling them to complete legal requirements efficiently and obtain driving licenses with minimal effort.
“The initiative reflects our commitment to making government services citizen-friendly, transparent and accessible through technology,” a provincial official said, highlighting the benefits of a fully digitised system.
