Web Desk: Election authorities in Azad Kashmir completed final preparations for polling in Mirpur district on Sunday, dispatching election materials under tight security ahead of voting for the 2026 elections.
Officials said polling materials were being distributed to all 611 polling stations across the district under the supervision of District Returning Officer Jahangir Ahmed Jarral as election staff prepared to conduct voting in the district’s four constituencies.
Election officials said presiding officers departed for their assigned polling stations with ballot papers and other election materials under enhanced security arrangements aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of the vote.
Authorities said the distribution process was being carried out according to the election schedule to ensure polling stations were fully equipped before voting begins.
Officials said preparations for the election had been finalised across all four constituencies in Mirpur district.
A total of 3,643 election personnel have been deployed to manage polling operations, including presiding officers, polling staff and other officials responsible for overseeing the voting process.
Authorities have stepped up security measures at polling locations identified as vulnerable to ensure law and order during voting.
Of the district’s 611 polling stations, 320 have been classified as highly sensitive and will receive additional security personnel and monitoring throughout polling day.
Officials said the enhanced deployment is intended to facilitate a peaceful, transparent and orderly election process while safeguarding voters, polling staff and election materials.
