Web Desk: Pakistan has decided to accelerate the deportation of Afghan nationals living in the country without valid visas after a government deadline for voluntary compliance expired on July 10, officials said.

The federal government has directed authorities to immediately detain Afghan citizens found without valid travel documents and increase enforcement operations across the country.

Following the expiry of the deadline, the Ministry of Interior has instructed provincial authorities and law enforcement agencies to step up action against undocumented Afghan residents.

Officials said daily reports will be submitted to the ministry, detailing the number of Afghan nationals detained without valid visas, the actions taken by authorities and their current legal status.

The reporting mechanism aims to provide the federal government with regular updates on deportation efforts and enforcement measures, officials said.

The Interior Ministry had earlier issued directives on June 28, 2026, to the chief secretaries of all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and the chief commissioner of Islamabad to ensure implementation of the policy.

Meanwhile, the ministry directed all deputy commissioners, police departments and relevant law enforcement agencies to take necessary steps to enforce the orders.

The latest move comes as Pakistan continues its efforts to regulate the status of foreign nationals residing in the country without valid documentation.
