Pakistan’s javelin star Arshad Nadeem has booked his place in the final of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo after producing a superb third attempt of 85.28 metres.
He needed to cross the automatic qualification mark of 84.50 metres to advance. Arshad Nadeem began with a throw of 76.99 metres.
His second effort was 74.17 metres, adding to the pressure. On his third attempt, he crossed the qualification mark of 84.50 metres and secured his place in the final.
Securing his spot in the final and lifting a huge weight off the shoulders of his supporters back home.
The Olympic gold medallist had earlier asked his supporters in Pakistan to keep him in their prayers ahead of the competition.
The men’s javelin throw final at the World Athletics Championships will take place on September 18.
