A high-level security meeting convened to review Pakistan’s prevailing security situation and emerging challenges stressed that a comprehensive reset of the country’s outdated administrative system is essential to ensure lasting peace, stability, and prosperity.
According to sources, participants observed that the administrative structure in place for decades is no longer aligned with present-day governance and security requirements, resulting in persistent challenges in public administration, service delivery, and law enforcement.
The meeting participants reportedly agreed that the most practical way to effectively reset the existing administrative framework is through the creation of new provinces. They said such a move would bring governance closer to the people, improve administrative efficiency, and enhance transparency.
Security sources said the meeting also emphasized that administrative reforms have become indispensable for addressing Pakistan’s current issues and future security challenges. Participants noted that establishing new provinces could strengthen state institutions, ensure a fairer distribution of resources, and improve the resolution of public problems.
Participants further noted that administrative reforms should be accompanied by institutional strengthening, improved coordination between civil and security authorities.
They said such measures would promote public confidence and faith in state institutions, strengthen governance, and promote seamless and uninterrupted national development and national unity.
They also stressed that this end could be achieved through a comprehensive national dialogue and mutual consent involving policymakers, constitutional experts, parliamentarians, and other relevant stakeholders to examine proposals for administrative restructuring.
