French president Emmanuel Macron has shared that he recently held individual meetings with Masoud Pezeshkian and Donald Trump, stessing on eliminating tensions and reviving stalled diplomatic efforts in the region.
In a statement, Macron emphasized the importance of resumin negotiations that were previously interrupted in Islamabad, stressing that dialogue remains the only viable path to resolving misunderstandings and preventing further escalation.
He highlighted the need of a strict and inclusive ceasefire, noting that all parties must respect it fully. Macron also underscored that any such agreement should include Lebanon, given its strategic and political significance in the ongoing situation.
The French president further called for the immediate and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route, without any restrictions such as controls or tolls.
According to Macron, if these key conditions are met, there is strong potential for negotiations to restart immediately with the backing of key international leaders , raising hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough.
He also announced that France, in coordination with United Kingdom, will be hosting a conference in Paris this Friday. The meeting will bring together non-belligerent nations via videoconference to support a defensive initiative aimed at restoring freedom of navigation in the region once security conditions improve.
