Web Desk: The Boys fifth and final season will be returning on April 8 as confirmed by Amazon Prime Video. The first two episodes will be released on launch day.
After the first two episodes the remaining episodes will air weekly until the series finale on May 20. The announcement was done by Erik Kripke and cast members during the show’s panel at CCXP Brazil. The first trailer was also presented there.
According to the official description, Homelander’s influence will be shaping the whole world in season 5. Frenchie, Hughie and Mother’s Milk are being held in a “Freedom Camp” while Annie is attempting to build a resistance against an increasing dominant super force. Kimiko, however is missing.
The narrative is shifted by Butcher when he reappears. He shows willingness to deploy a virus capable of wiping out all Supes.
The production has described the events of season 5 as world-altering.
Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles will also be reunited in The Boys season 5. The first look of their reunion was shared in the trailer. The previously starred together for 15 years in the series Supernatural. Jensen Ackles will be returning as Soldier Boy. However, we do not know what role is Jared Padalecki playing.
The footage from the trailer shows Butcher, played by Karl Urban will be reuniting with Annie, Hughie and the rest of The Boys. He parted with them at the end of The Boys season 4. The group will be attempting to prevent a global catastrophe and will be facing mounting pressure.
Amazon MGM Studios, Sony Picture Television, Original Film, Kripke Enterprises and Point Grey Pictures are producing the series.
