Karachi police have solved the case of  Surjani Town family killings, in which the victims were found brutally murdered at their home three days ago.

The bodies of the mother and her three children were found inside their house in Sector 7-D, Surjani Town, on Monday night. All four victims had injuries to their heads caused by a sharp-edged weapon and a heavy object, according to investigative sources.

The deceased woman was identified as Mehwish, while her children included five-year-old Hasnain, six-year-old Kashmirah and an 18-month-old girl.

The 18-month-old girl was initially shifted to a hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to her injuries.

DIG West Irfan Baloch in a press conference on Thursday revealed that the police arrested the victim’s brother-in-law, identified as Humayun, in connection with the killings.

DIG West Irfan Baloch said police solved the case within three days.

He said the suspect was a close relative of the victims. Police also recovered the weapon used in the killings.

During interrogation, Humayun reportedly confessed to the murders, the DIG said.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the killings.

Police had also started questioning Mehwish’s husband as part of the investigation. According to the husband, he had gone to drop his employer somewhere. He said that when he returned, no one opened the door.

The husband said he repeatedly called out to his wife but received no response.
