ISLAMABAD: Outspoken PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat has claimed that former PTI chief of staff Shahbaz Gill misused official gifts during his time in office.
Speaking on a private news channel programme, Marwat claimed that Shahbaz Gill misused official gifts during his time in office, which eventually led to his ouster.
He said official records showed a gold gourd was issued in Bushra Bibi’s name. However, it was allegedly received by Gill.
Marwat further alleged Shahbaz Gill also took two mobile phones belonging to Imran Khan. He claimed the phones were later handed to former DG ISI Faiz Hameed.
According to Marwat, an internal inquiry revealed Shahbaz Gill also took a gold lota. He said the item never reached Bushra Bibi.
He alleged the gold gourd was later sold to a businessman owning a major petrol pump network. No name was mentioned.
Marwat said Gill was expelled from PTI over the alleged theft of mobiles and the gold lota.
The Toshakhana case remains under scrutiny. Investigators are examining records of state gifts and their custody.
During his tenure in the government, PTI leader Shahbaz Gill’s wife, Izza Asad Rasool, had also been found owing about Rs18.6 million to COMSATS University Islamabad.
The matter surfaced after the university issued a show-cause notice to her over the outstanding amount.
Shahbaz Gill was accused of using his influence to pressure the COMSATS administration.
Officials claimed the pressure aims to prevent disciplinary action against his wife.
