A suspected suicide attack on the Manji Khel Police Checkpost in the Tank district was foiled after police responded promptly.
According to initial reports, a vehicle laden with explosives advanced toward the wall of the police checkpost. However, the swift response by security personnel prevented the attacker from carrying out his mission.
Sources said a heavy exchange of fire ensued between police and armed terrorists following the incident. During the operation, one terrorist and the suicide bomber were killed.
However, casualties and other details have not yet been officially confirmed. A security operation is still underway in the area.
