The Ministry of Finance has issued a clarification regarding the revision of basic salaries and allowances for federal government employees.
According to the Ministry of Finance, two ad hoc allowances for federal government employees have been frozen, while rates for the 2023 and 2024 ad hoc relief allowances have been set for new and existing employees.
According to the notification, the rates of the ad hoc relief allowances will remain frozen at the current levels rather than being increased further. The Ministry has also clarified the position regarding the 2023 and 2024 ad hoc relief allowances.
The 2023 Ad Hoc Relief Allowance has already been frozen at the level applicable on June 30, 2023. New employees will also receive the allowance based on the 2022 Basic Pay Scale.
According to the Ministry of Finance, special pay and related allowances will also remain frozen at the level applicable on June 30, 2026.
Employees in Grades 1 to 16 will receive an allowance equal to 35 percent of their basic pay, while employees in Grades 17 to 22 will receive a 30 percent Ad Hoc Relief Allowance. This Ad Hoc Relief Allowance will remain frozen at the same rate until further orders.
According to the notification, government employees will also receive the 2024 Ad Hoc Relief Allowance based on the 2022 Basic Pay Scale. Employees in Grades 1 to 16 will receive 25 percent of their basic pay, while employees in Grades 17 to 22 will receive an allowance of up to 20 percent.
This allowance will also remain frozen at the level applicable on June 30, 2026. Employees recruited from July 1, 2026, will receive the 2024 allowance according to the Basic Pay Scale applicable to them.
