Chief of Defence Forces of Pakistan, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, said that the Pakistan Armed Forces and China’s People’s Liberation Army are true partners that continue to work closely together to promote peace and stability in the region and safeguard their shared strategic interests.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a dignified ceremony was held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi to mark the 99th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong attended the ceremony as the chief guest. China’s Defence Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, senior officials of the Chinese Embassy, and senior officers of Pakistan’s three armed forces were also present.
Congratulations to the People’s Liberation Army
Addressing the ceremony, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir congratulated the Chinese military on its 99th anniversary and appreciated the People’s Liberation Army’s contributions to China’s defence, national development and the promotion of global peace and security.
He said China’s armed forces have played an important role not only in defending the country but also in promoting regional stability and global peace.
Pak-China friendship has stood the test of time
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said that relations between Pakistan and China are unique, time-tested and have stood every test of time.
According to him, the friendship between the two countries has continued to grow stronger despite changing regional and global circumstances, and is based on mutual trust, respect and shared interests.
He said relations between the Pakistan Armed Forces and the People’s Liberation Army are not limited to military cooperation. Rather, the two militaries are true partners working together to achieve peace, stability and shared strategic objectives in the region.
Chinese ambassador pays tribute to Pakistan’s sacrifices
Addressing the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for holding the commemorative event.
He appreciated the sacrifices and professional role of Pakistan’s armed forces in the fight against terrorism, saying that China remains committed to further strengthening its all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with Pakistan.
The Chinese ambassador reiterated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan and expressed a commitment to further promoting defence, diplomatic and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Importance of Pak-China defence cooperation
Defence cooperation between Pakistan and China has continued to strengthen over several decades. The two countries maintain close cooperation in areas including joint military exercises, defence production, military training, intelligence cooperation and advanced defence technology.
Defence cooperation between the two countries is considered important for regional peace and stability as well as shared security.
Pakistan and China are often described as “iron brothers,” while their relations have continued to expand in diplomatic, economic, defence and strategic fields.
