The United Arab Emirates has announced a special concession for tourist families visiting from abroad during the summer holidays, waiving the government tourist visa fee for children under the age of 18 from July 15 to September 15.
According to a foreign news agency, the facility will only be available to children travelling to the UAE with their parents for tourism purposes. Visa applications for parents and children must be submitted together.
The concession will not apply to children of people already residing in the UAE. Although the government visa fee will be waived, travel insurance, visa processing and travel agency service charges will still have to be paid, which may average around AED 120 per child.
According to the report, under normal circumstances, a child’s tourist visa costs approximately AED 250 to AED 350. Therefore, families travelling with two children can save between AED 500 and AED 700.
The concession applies to both 30-day and 60-day tourist visas. However, if the visa is extended afterward, the normal fee will apply, as the waiver is limited to the initial visa application.
Experts have advised parents to submit their children’s applications along with their own and to inform the travel agency before making payment that they wish to avail themselves of the special concession.
