Web Desk: National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned national cricketers Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan as part of an inquiry linked to information reportedly obtained from their mobile phones, according to sources.
The agency has issued notices to both players, directing them to appear at its Lahore office on Friday. Another Pakistan cricketer has also reportedly received a notice from the cybercrime authority.
According to the sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had taken possession of the players’ mobile phones and subsequently handed them over to the relevant authorities.
The NCCIA is expected to examine information retrieved from the devices as part of its investigation. However, the PCB has not publicly explained why the phones were taken into custody.
Sources said the players may be asked to unlock their devices during the inquiry.
The investigation reportedly centres on the alleged leaking of information from Pakistan’s dressing room during the team’s England series.
The NCCIA is expected to question Imam and Rizwan about the source and circulation of material believed to have emerged from within the team environment.
The notices were reportedly issued on Monday, with both players directed to appear before the agency on Friday.
The inquiry comes as authorities examine how information from inside the Pakistan team setup may have reached outside parties during the England series.
