Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) said in an exclusive interview with Al Arabiya that the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement is not directed against any country and will only be used for defensive purposes.
The DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry clarified that the agreement is defensive in nature and aims to strengthen defence cooperation among the countries involved. He said the pact should not be viewed as targeting any particular country.
Pakistan Army spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan strengthens the longstanding strategic relations and joint defence capabilities of the three countries.
He said the alliance between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan is focused on regional stability, may include new partners, and the agreement is complementary to Pakistan’s strategic relations with China.
He said Pakistan’s policy of maintaining multifaceted relations enables it to play a unique role in mediation between Tehran and Washington.
The only solution to the Iran-US war is mediation efforts; no one in the region wants to see a war. As a mediator, we will continue our efforts for peace,” DG ISPR said.
The Pakistan Army spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue counterterrorism operations against attacks originating from Afghan territory.
“If India continues its actions under the pretext of ‘Akhand Bharat,’ the consequences will be far more severe than India can imagine. If Pakistan is attacked, it will inflict damage that the enemy will remember for generations” DG ISPR said.
He also clarified that all information regarding sensitive matters related to defence cooperation cannot be disclosed publicly.
According to the DG ISPR, details concerning the practical aspects of defence cooperation are kept at a specific level. He said it is not possible to provide complete information about these matters. Confidentiality is maintained in sensitive matters of a defence nature.
Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry’s remarks came at a time when attention is focused on defence ties among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. Defence cooperation among the three countries extends across various fields. However, specific information regarding the practical mechanism of this cooperation has not been made public
