Kuwait's ratification of Defence Cooperation Agreement

Pakistan welcomes Kuwait’s ratification of the Pakistan-Kuwait Defence Cooperation Agreement 2023, describing it as a major milestone in the long-term defence partnership between the two brotherly countries.


In a statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson said that Pakistan welcomes Kuwait’s recent ratification of the Pakistan-Kuwait Defence Cooperation Agreement, which was signed in June 2023. According to the spokesperson, this development marks another significant step in the longstanding defence relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait that dates back to the early 1980s.


The spokesperson said the ratification reflects the shared commitment of both countries to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation and expand their security partnership.


The statement noted that the agreement provides a comprehensive institutional framework for enhancing defence cooperation, covering military training and education, joint military exercises, the exchange of professional expertise, and collaboration in other mutually agreed areas.


The spokesperson added that the agreement will further strengthen institutional ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and Kuwait while reinforcing the long-standing defence relationship between the two countries.


Pakistan and Kuwait, the spokesperson said, will continue to work closely to implement the agreement in accordance with its provisions. This cooperation is expected to create new opportunities in defence collaboration and further deepen the partnership based on mutual trust, shared interests, and strong institutional links.


The spokesperson further emphasized that the enhanced defence cooperation would also contribute to promoting peace, security, and stability in the region.


The Foreign Office statement recalled that the Pakistan-Kuwait Defence Cooperation Agreement was signed on June 11, 2023, and its recent ratification represents an important step toward further advancing defence ties between the two countries.
