India has released water from the Salal Dam for the 11th consecutive time.
Following India’s latest release of water from the Salal Dam, a flood alert has been issued in Pakistan. According to sources, a water surge of approximately 90,000 cusecs is expected to enter the country from India.
Water flow in most of the country’s rivers remains normal. However, low to medium-level flooding continues at various locations along the Indus River, while rising water levels have also been recorded at Tarbela and Mangla dams.
A medium-level flood persists at Sukkur Barrage on the Indus River, while Kalabagh, Chashma, and Guddu barrages are experiencing low-level flooding. A low-level flood has also been recorded at Head Balloki on the Ravi River.
Meanwhile, water flow remains normal at most key points along the Jhelum, Chenab, Sutlej, Ravi, and Kabul rivers. A decline in water flow has been recorded at Chacharan Sharif and Benazir Bridge, where the discharge stood at 218,978 cusecs.
The water level at Tarbela Dam has risen to 1,539 feet, and the reservoir is now 89 percent full, matching last year’s level. At Mangla Dam, the water level has exceeded 1,196 feet, while the reservoir is now 57 percent full.
Relevant authorities are closely monitoring the situation in rivers and low-lying areas and have instructed district administrations and rescue agencies to remain on high alert.
