WEBDESK: The 79th Independence Day of Pakistan being celebrated on a grand scale in Lahore as well as Islamabad. There will be celebrations comprising of display of fireworks, cultural participations, live performances and display of patriotism. Most of the events will be without fees, and this will motivate the families to be participants in the national spirit.
Where to watch fireworks in Islamabad this Independence Day?
The capital city is preparing for a large-scale celebration of Marka-e-Haq and Independence Day. The Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Administration, and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) are working together to decorate key roads such as Constitution Avenue, Srinagar Highway, Club Road, and Jinnah Avenue with LED lights and digital banners.
Events will feature flag hoisting, cultural shows, fireworks, national songs, painting competitions, debate contests, and school tableaux.
A grand event is planned for Wednesday at Jinnah Sports Stadium, starting at 8:00 pm. It will commemorate both Independence Day and the victory in Marka-e-Haq. President Asif Ali Zardari will attend as chief guest, joined by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, federal ministers, the chiefs of the three armed forces, and other dignitaries.
Lok Virsa will host a three day Marka-e-Haq Azadi Festival from 12 to 14 August. The programme includes a national singing competition final, artisan stalls, folk theatre, exhibitions honouring national heroes, a kids’ zone, and a lantern countdown to midnight on 14 August. All activities are free to attend.
Faisal Hills Taxila will hold an evening celebration with fireworks on 14 August, starting at 8:00 pm. Entry is free for everyone.
Faisal Town Islamabad will celebrate at B Block Park on 14 August with a fireworks show at 8:00 pm, community gatherings, and family activities.
Giga Mall Rawalpindi has moved its fireworks to 16 August at 11:59 pm, in respect for Arba’een.
Where to watch fireworks in Islamabad this Independence Day?
DHA Lahore will host Azadi Night at H Park, Phase 6, on 14 August. Highlights include live music, cultural performances, fireworks, food stalls, family games, and Azadi-themed decorations. Tickets are available at DHA offices and clubs.
The Walled City of Lahore Authority will light up historic landmarks including Lahore Fort, Jahangir’s Tomb, Shalimar Bagh, Wazir Khan Baradari, Hazuri Bagh, Food Street, and all Walled City gates in green and white from 12 to 14 August.
A patriotic Mushaira will be held at Wazir Khan Chowk on 13 August at 7:30 pm, while flag hoisting ceremonies will take place at major heritage sites on 14 August at 8:00 am. Lahore Fort will remain open until midnight, and Shalimar Garden until 8:00 pm during the celebrations.
